The recent data on fatal drunk driving accidents in the United States reveals a concerning statistic for Lubbock, TX. According to a study by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Lubbock ranks 18th among the 75 U.S. cities with the highest rates of fatal drunk driving accidents. This places our city uncomfortably high on a list no community wants to be part of.

The statistics are sobering: Lubbock has a rate of 10.99 fatal drunk driving accidents per 100,000 people.

Lubbock is not alone in this struggle within Texas. Several other cities in our state also feature prominently on this grim list. For instance, Odessa, TX, tops the list with a staggering rate of 27.46 fatal drunk driving accidents per 100,000 people. Midland, Dallas, and Houston are also notable mentions, with rates of 14.13, 13.93, and 11.20, respectively.
